A native of Miami Florida, Luby Anioce Myrthil has been a practitioner of law for close to 6 years in the Tampa area. In that time she has devoted her work in the area of family and foreclosure defense law. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications.
After college, Luby’s father had an important case, which sparked her interest in pursuing the legal profession. Specifically, she was inspired by the attorney’s handling of her father’s case, and subsequently set out to earn her juris doctorate from Stetson College of Law. In 2011, she earned her degree through a healthy dose of persistence and perseverance, and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2012.
Some of Luby’s notable internships included the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) where she honed her investigative skills and learned how to read clients; and also interned for The Honorable Ronald Ficarrotta, Hillsborough Circuit Judge from whom she was able to glean real-world experience about criminal procedures and the inner workings of the courtroom.
Additionally, Luby worked part-time at Mark C. Payne, P.A. where she was the lead legal assistant, who often assumed the role of office manager, ensuring that the daily tasks and procedures were completed with care and precision. Furthermore, she managed all this during law school while also becoming a mother for the first and second time!
With two young boys at home, she still continued to practice law part-time, by initially volunteering at St. Michael’s Legal Center for Women and Children. There she became very familiar with family law and in 2013, she went from being a volunteer to part-time associate attorney, continuing to represent clients with family and guardianship matters.
In February of 2014, Luby accepted another part-time position as an associate attorney with Attorney Felicia Williams at Father’s Rights, an organization dedicated to advocating on behalf of fathers in family court. In March of 2014, her middle son was struck with childhood cancer at the tender age of 21 months old. He began his chemotherapy immediately and spent many nights in the hospital. Luby quit her job to be with her son.
In 2015, she began working again. She was an associate attorney at Jean-Pierre Coy, P.A. where she primarily focused on Family law. As a mother, she understood the need of protecting her client's family through devastating times. This passion eventually turned into a desire to own her own practice. On May, 2017, she opened Myrthil's Law, P.A. where she focuses on Family Law, Estate Planning, and Probate.
In addition to her career, Luby has been involved in several philanthropic endeavors including: The Ronald McDonald House charities cooking with the kids, the Hillsborough County Community Clean-up, and the Club Creole Mentoring Program where she both tutors adults from Haiti and serves on their Executive Board. In college, she was also a proud member of the Black Law Student Association. In her down time, Luby is a loving wife to her husband of 12 years, Vincent and together they keep busy caring for their three beautiful boys, Xavier, Alexander and Xachariah and beautiful daughter, Xarina.
